"When am I?" -- John Locke's chronological confusion sums up Season 5, which hopscotches dizzyingly between the 1970s and 2008 as it charts the Oceanic Six's return to the island and reveals important island secrets. On the island, Locke (Terry O'Quinn) is the new leader of the Others. But in L.A., he's dead, and his death plays a key role in getting Jack (Matthew Fox), Kate (Evangeline Lilly), Hurley (Jorge Garcia) and Sun (Yunjin Kim) to return via Ajira Airways. Sayid (Naveen Andrews) refuses to join his fellow former castaways, but winds up being escorted onto the Guam-bound flight by a bounty hunter named Ilana (Zuleikha Robinson). Ben (Michael Emerson) must return, too, to face judgment for allowing his daughter Alex to die. Their flight -- with Frank Lapidus (Jeff Fahey) at the controls -- is a bumpy one, but the final destination is indeed the island. Ben, Sun, Ilana and Frank remain fixed in time upon their return to the island, but Jack, Kate, Hurley and Sayid are flashed back in time to 1977, where they are reunited with Sawyer (Josh Holloway) and Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell). After surviving a series of time-travel flashes, Sawyer and Juliet landed in the 1970s and forged a close relationship with each other and the Dharma Initiative, which also welcomes Miles Straume (Ken Leung). Meanwhile, Miles' colleague Daniel Faraday (Jeremy Davies) embarks on a time-traveling mission that introduces him to a nuclear bomb named Jughead and a young woman named Ellie. Both play prominent roles as the season progresses. ~ Paul Droesch, Rovi

An amazing story about an airplane crashing on an island in the South Pacific and the 48 survivors that are forced to adapt to life on a deserted island. But this is no ordinary island. It is filled with mystery and secrets. Season 5 uncovers some of the island's mysteries while finding new ones. You will find it very hard not to want to watch 8 episodes in a row. I would recommend this DVD set to anyone but I must stress that you need to watch Lost from the beginning to fully enjoy and understand it. So if you haven't watched it from the start, rent Season 1 disc 1 and enjoy. This is one of the best shows you will ever see.

I understand some "LOST" fans are very disappointed with the series finale. I felt the same way about "X-Files" and other great sci-fi TV shows. I decided I can either stay angry or just accept the impossibility of having all the show's incredible concepts tied up neaty at the end. Now I'm just enjoying the "LOST" ride; great cast, incredible locations, brain twisting situations; one surprise after another. Answers? Naw, just more incomprehensible questions. Sort of like the mysteries of life. I'm impressed they've done as well as they have, with as many production setbacks there's been. Season 5 of "LOST" is a wild ride, the show still remains one of the best ever on TV. And yeah, a better ending would've been nice.

It was a really good series. I couldnt wait for the next disk to come in the mail. If you like suspence, drama and action this is a must see. I think the ending sort of left you wondering, but that is the point of a series, isn't it?

Lost seemed to be an excellent series, the best I'd ever seen on TV. How was I to know the writers were total amateur with no clue how to FINISH a story? I cannot recommend this s**t to anyone. I'm not alone. We're P*SSED!!!! Don't waste your time.

Do not waste your time even starting to watch this absurdly incomplete runaround. I watched the entire series only to be seriously disappointed. Unless you are very forgiving of a misleading, contradictory, disconnected plot with no plausible explanation, don't bother. Anyone can spin a story with endless mysterious twists and coincidental connections. It takes real skill to tie it together acceptably, which is never done with Lost. Smug writers kept a huge audience on the hook way too long for a corny, incomplete conclusion; one no better than a magical dream, despite their constant insistence to the contrary. Its not just some questions left unanswered, but fundamental premises conveniently brushed aside. Is it a incredible mystery of the paranormal? Spiritual? Mythical? Religious? Scientific? Fate? Coincidence? Conspiracy? Magic? An unexplained mix of all? Take any know-it-all's "theory" out there, and you can shoot it full of holes. Incomplete grades still add up to a failure.
