Che, Part 2 (2008)
Member Rating:
Part 2 of director Steven Soderbergh's Che Guevara saga begins with the famed Cuban revolutionary at the absolute peak of his fame and power. Disappearing suddenly, Guevara subsequently resurfaces in Bolivia to organize a modest group of Cuban comrades and Bolivian recruits in preparation for the Latin American Revolution. But while the Bolivian campaign would ultimately fail, the tenacity, sacrifice, and idealism displayed by Guevara during this period would make him a symbol of heroism to followers around the world. Though Parts 1 and 2 were screened together at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, they were set to be released separately in U.S. theaters in early 2009. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I love this documentary although part 1 made me understand why he is idolozie or romatized as a hero of the people. I do wish the Bolivian campaign was explain a little more because I didn't get why he needed to be there or if Castro asked him to.

This had to be one of the most boring movies I have ever seen. Slow moving. The original Che with Omar Shariff blows this away.

This movie misses a lot of detail and is just a propaganda film to promote "Che" as a hero. They definitely missed the innocent killings that took place in Cuba after they took over Havana; the land/business nationalization by Fidel; CIA involvement in trying to take Che alive at the end. Great famous actors making their cameo will not change my mind. Marxist ideology is good on paper, but making it work is another thing. Just look at Colombia and their Marxist rebels; look at destruction created by communism in Eastern Europe before you start glorifying Castro and Che.

The acting in this movie was superb, but the narrative really sugar-coats Guevara's and Castro's ruthlessness. Che himself executed many middle class Cubans on the way to Havana (never even hinted at in the film), even when they assisted the revolutionaries. His role in the Cuban intervention in Angola is not covered at all in the film-- Castro knew that Che was a threat. It goes to rounding out the complexity of the character- while on the march in Cuba, Che NEVER bathed or washed his clothes, even when the opportunity presented. His men called him 'el chancho' (the pig). If you really want to get a balanced view of this important man, don't rely only on this movie for the truth. I'd highly recommend Motorcycle Diaries to understand his early years and how he morphed from a gentle Argentine med student to a revolutionary terrorist. And there are several books that deal with a balance of the good AND the evil in the man.

Part one is excellent as it really lets you see what happened in Cuba and it was like watching a documentary with good acting. Part 2 was a total waste of time as it takes over two hours to let us know that Che was killed . All of the stuff in between the beginning and the end was just a complete waste of my viewiing hours.

This movie could have been done in 1 dvd-it started off great and moved on to a boring field trip in the jungles, boring and long...the main actor was good as Che. he's a great actor, However some of the funny parts that livened it up,could only be picked up , if you speak Spanish, because the sub titles didnt show the humor....way tooooooo long and drawn out.

It was very interesting to see how how Che went through so much in believing in the cause even with his bad health.

This movie try to sell the ché as an angel, respectful of the human rights and non violent fighter for better living, I can provide a list of people killed with no mercy by this assasin, what about the disaparence on Camilo Cienfuegos, or the killing of Fran Pais or the arguably surrender of the ché by the other assasin castro?, shame on this film
