Director David Fincher (Fight Club, Seven) teams with screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing) to explore the meaning of success in the early 21st century from the perspectives of the technological innovators who revolutionized the way we all communicate. The year was 2003. As prohibitively expensive technology became affordable to the masses and the Internet made it easy to stay in touch with people who were halfway across the world, Harvard undergrad and computer programming wizard Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) launched a website with the potential to alter the very fabric of our society. At the time, Zuckerberg was just six years away from making his first million. But his hearty payday would come at a high price, because despite all of Zuckerberg's wealth and success, his personal life began to suffer as he became mired in legal disputes, and discovered that many of the 500 million people he had friended during his rise to the top were eager to see him fall. Chief among that growing list of detractors was Zuckerberg's former college friend Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield), whose generous financial contributions to Facebook served as the seed that helped the company to sprout. And some might argue that Zuckerberg's bold venture wouldn't have evolved into the cultural juggernaut that it ultimately became had Napster founder Sean Parker (Justin Timberlake) not spread the word about Facebook to the venture capitalists from Silicon Valley. Meanwhile, the Winklevoss twins (Armie Hammer and Josh Pence) engage Zuckerberg in a fierce courtroom battle for ownership of Facebook that left many suspecting the young entrepreneur might have let his greed eclipse his better judgment. The Social Network was based on the book The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

A beautifully acted, directed, and scripted film about the story of the founders of Facebook. Many people will be pleasantly surprised. It is a bit "talky," but the film is overall crafted impeccably and is entertaining, engrossing, funny, and interesting, whether you love, hate, or even have a Facebook.

This movie is truly great. the acting is excellent, the writing is superb, the directing is top notch. There is not a single thing wrong with this movie. I think it deserves every penny it gets in box office and I hope it wins a lot of Academy Awards. It doesnt even matter if you have a facebook account or really know what facebook is this story will keep you entertained until the credits roll.

Facebook Is Built On Malice. I'm an outsider to the world of the social network. I have no interest in that world and from what I've seen it actually creates an antisocial attitude. I still believe that face to face communication is best. This film is well written though it does take certain liberties in regards to the truth. The actors are excellent in this film and believable. Fincher's movies always make me think differently. The soundtrack is loud, then again it's Trent Reznor's work which is great too. This movie doesn't get the highest rating because this story doesn't really surprise me. People are starving to be memorable, and will step on friends, family, honor, and love for money. You either love or hate this movie but you got to admit Mark Zuckerberg knows how to succeed. On the side of my Florida Orange juice is the Facebook logo. Facebook is a force of nature, and any proof needed look everywhere.

What surprised me the most was how tight the acting was in this movie. I really didn't think Timberlake had that in him....but he did a nice job. Eisenberg was so "nerdy good" in his role, too. Everybody knows the popular and good looking kids in high school always end up working for the Nerds in high school - - - it's the "social payback" of Life-101 in America.... :) - - - - - the Winklevoss twins also won big time: "settling" for $65 million bucks....getting their degrees from Harvard....competing in the US Olympics...and having Daddy's friends bail their lame, rich butts out. Not bad....

Awesome! Very interesting story and an amazing performance by Eisenberg. Nothing bad about the film. It "could" have had a little more background to the characters and been a little heavier on details. Hardly a criticism though. A fine film.

I wish it and all movies that come out on the big screen should be up for rent 3 weeks after. Do you think this will ever happen?

Haven't seen it, so I can't really knock it, but really? A movie about Facebook? Hey Jesse Eisenberg, Michael Cera called and wants his boring demeanor back. Zing. How about a movie about the creator of Myspace suing the creator of Facebook? Wow, what a crowd pleaser.
