Read More I'm a huge Futurama fan. Reason being is because they've mostly been good at taking humorous and lovable characters and telling a well written story, while making it hilarious along the way. Bender's Big Score did such a great job with this that I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the next two. While the Beast with a Billion Backs was somewhat disappointing, this one didn't make up for it, I'm afraid. It lacked a good story, honestly. It just seemed like a huge memorial movie on the creator of D&D. Things were sloppy, random, and frankly all over the place. It's fun to watch, but it just lacks the Futurama story-telling flair I fell in love with, which is why this movie is mediocre at best to a Futurama fan like me. Sorry. It was as if the regular writers hired high school chemistry professors to write this script... just unfunny.
Could have been a great tribute to the Orson Scott Card book Ender's Game, but there was no correlative humor whatsoever.. really not much humor at all in the film... really flat... waste of time.
If you are a Futurama fan, you will be disappointed
If you are not a Futurama fan, you will never watch the show on TV after watching this listless, impotent production...
Don't waste your time on this... unless you have some really good wacky tobacco to alter your perception intensely... even if you do, you would be better served renting some Family Guy episodes... or even the old Andy Griffith Show... you would get more yucks from Andy, Opie, and Aunt Bea... This one is by far the worst. Of all that is Futurama, this is the stinker and isn't worth the time spent to watch it. The story line makes little sense and turns into a cheap farce of Lord of the Rings and is infected by the Sarah Palin-bashing fostered by the 2008 general election campaign. They are funny, but not up to the sky high standards the ... Read More I love Futurama. The series is just one of my favorites of all time. However, the series of 3 movies just hasn't quite hit the right note yet. They are funny, but not up to the sky high standards the TV series has set. Bender's game is a stand alone movie, unlike the previous 2. I did laugh quite a bit at this movie. Maybe it's the Dungeons and Dragons references that tickle the inner geek in me. I just find that stuff funny. It's also important that they focused on their best character again: Bender. He makes the series tick, no doubt about it. While this movie is good, there still seems to be something missing. Perhaps they need to return to 30 minutes TV programs to keep the laugh ratio up. This wouldn't be the first program that needs a time limit to work. Sometimes 90 minutes is just too much time for an animated comedy. It took forever for the movie to get to Bender's Game. I was trying to figure out what the movie was supposed to be about and how Bender's Game even went into play. It was just a lame start. But then it definitely hit the realm for all those Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Dungeon & Dragon nerds out there. It hit everything possible in those realms for this movie. 3 out of 5 people found this review helpful first off, this is with out a doubt the best of the three movies(not neccesarily an amazing movie) but better than the first two. my only problem with this one is the plot....or rather the abscence of one in like the first 30 mins lol. but do not be alarmed, this in no way affects that futurama brand humor the fans have come to love. I personally enjoyed this alot, even though its beggining is no different than an average futurama episode, towards the center and end it becomes a thouroughly enjoyable comedy.( a good spoof movie too) :)WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL?
