Cruise is not my favorite actor - but in this movie he is SUPERB ! Willam Defoe plays a wonderful supporting role.

Based on a true story of Ron Kovic who is a major anti war veteran. A must see for every citizen! Watch this movie and you'll understand the Anti War movement better.

I saw this movie for the first time yesterday (had never watched it because people said it is hard to watch) but I definitely give this movie 2 thumbs up! War is bad and soldiers can come back messed up very bad whether it is injury that you can or can't see. It is good to see movies that don't try to turn it into something romantic.

I used the movie as a learning project for a group of (21) nursing students. They were able to actually see how ones body image is impaired as a result of paralysis. The movie also depicts how the need for love and sex remains in ones mind even though the loss of ones sexual organs may not be intact for one reason or another. The movie heighten everyones awareness on family dynamics and how ones injury or illness can have an affect on the community as a whole. The nurisng care on the movie was deplorable and under no circustances should we as nurses compromise the way healthcare is delivered. I will definelty use this movie again as a teaching and learning tool.
