This film was weird right from the begnning and certainly confusing with all those flashbacks..never knew where I was half the time..not a good script..I wonder if the script writers put themselves in the position of the average viewer..the ending of course really put the icing on the cake and didn't make any sense at all...what they really should do is have a private showing of the film and get the viewers responses...then make the necessary adjustments to the film..wishful thinking..a shame with such fine actors like Jim Cromwell and Larry Fishburne.. this was the first time I saw Cole Hauser..he was a boy when I first met his Dad back in the seventies...21/2 stars.

"Tortured" would have been a much better flick if the writers gave the viewer more credit for being intelligent. In order to fit the plot pieces together, common sense and credibility were set aside. For instance, a trap door under the floor of the torture room was never found by Cole Hauser (doing the torturing) over a seven-day period but found by the FBI within 30 seconds of opening up the room. Also, who would have left what appears to be a Rolex watch on the wrist of the "victim" during the entire period that he is being tortured. It had to be left on his wrist or he would not have been able to "escape" each day through the trap door. Why weren't digits cut off? Why weren't teeth drilled out? How could Mr. Fishburne walk so briskly and have so much energy after having had all his toenails ripped out and after 7 days of being tortured..........not plausible.
