I just finished Season One of TNT's "Saving Grace," and I have to say that I do not understand why people are not watching this show! I have read that the network shows it after the very popular, and also very good, show "The Closer" in an effort to get people to watch it. I don't get it. I mean, how can you go wrong with Holly Hunter and Laura San Giacomo (from the old TV show, "Just Shoot Me")? People are really missing out, in my opinion. The first episode is good, but each episode gets better and better.
The angel Earl CRACKS ME UP! What great lines.
The last scene of the season finale made me say, "Wow!" aloud, and I was alone! I want to rate this 4.5 stars because of that last scene, but I am making myself remember that I need to rate the entire season, not just the season finale. Read More This is the first tv show i've rented, it was long but the 1st season was SO worth it. It was the first time my husband and i made an event out of watching something. We looked forward to Grace as Earl tries to help her mend her ways and show her the light. It was an extraordinary 1st year. I hope there is a 2nd year soon, I feel like i'm going through withdrawal. Read More On the one hand you've got a classic barfly type drunk woman who also happens to be a police woman who is always getting drunk and banging different guys and punching guys out and stuff like that...
And on the other hand you've got this moralizing angel saying he's been sent by God to get her to straighten up and fly right.
I'd have liked it if they'd have made the angel just a generic "helper" angel, without the Christian trappings. But bringing "God" into it just ruins it for me. Isn't it time to drop this silly idea that there's some micro-managing all-powerful guy up there in a big white throne who gives a rat's *ss what we people down here on this little blue ball are doing with our lives?
As it is I recommend it only for Christians who want to go on pretending there is a God who cares about this world and the people in it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
