Don't expect to find an in-depth view of the complex dynamics between the sexes. This is just about the various ways a rambuctious group of guys try to avoid boredom and have a lot fun, sometimes at the expense of women.
Who can forget the memorable scenes like the food fight, Otis Day rocking the house, and Bluto's famous peeping-Tom-by-ladder stunt. BTW, if you're wondering why the ladder fell back away from the house, consider what happens to a man when viewing a nearly nude woman. Perhaps that "something" could push him away from the wall, theoretically of course.
Of course, no movie would be truly great without a moral, a message. Animal House's message is that even those who are undisciplined and unconforming can still root out hypocracy, and rise to the top.

Tom Hulce to Donald Sutherland - "Can I buy some pot from you?". Mark Metcalfe "A pledge pin on your uniform?!?!". This movie is totally classic, totally epic. How some people have bashed it on reviews is amazing. If you can't find this movie funny, you don't have a pulse. Read More "Animal House" defined a generation and was a "scream" to all who saw it when it came out (I was in 6th grade and am 41 now). That said, this disc tells us nothing new about the movie; there is an interesting documentary about how the movie came to be (it's too short!), pseudo-interviews of where the characters are now, and the movie has some tidbits of information via subtitles (not terribly interesting). Read More I watched this movie because I heard it's one of the funniest comedies ever, and a classic, but it is COMPLETELY OVERRATED. I did not laugh ONCE, and I can say it is one of the worst movies I have ever watched. In retrospect, I should have stopped watching after the first half hour of boredom. (And I love gross-out/guy humor/teen comedies!) Go get a real funny movie like American Pie or Beverly Hills Cop. Animal House sucks. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||
