This movie was truly great. It made me run the entire range of emotions, from uncontrolable laughter to real tears. I was surprised, I worried that this was going to be some kind of "Dirty Harry' or 'Death Wish' type of movie. It was nothing like that. If you're looking for a mindless action movie, this isn't for you. But if you enjoy drama and character development that will make you really care about the characters in tough situations, then you won't go wrong with this.

Saw this last night and had NO idea what to expect. I like to go into movies not knowing what the premise was and I was totally blown away. Not only will you take a look at elders differently, but maybe realize that good (and bad) people come from all walks of life. Clint had a great performance. He was unfiltered and irreverent. however the Asains performances were subpar at times, leaning towards what felt like forced acting or someone that was "slow". Good movie overall, highly recommend.

Like all Eastwood movies whether he's in front or behind the camera you just have to see the movie. Of course the movie took us in the direction we expected, a grumpy prejudiced old man meets young idealistic foreigners and over time is reconciles with all. But it's Clint. Like I said, who doesn't like a good, bad or even ugly Clint Eastwood movie?

A film with humor and pathos..untypical Eastwood..his stewardship of the young boy is untypical of Eastwood, yet thought provoking..the casting was realistic for the times and the ending was utterly untypical for Eastwood...yet the story provoked a look at people's motivations and why they do what they do...the humor outranked the pathos.. 4 stars!

Overall this was a good movie. The acting was quite good and and it will hold your attention throughout. I thought the ending was a little disappointing.

Vintage Clint but it is not all about him. He's a curmudgeonly Korean war vet Ford retiree widower who is politically incorrect to the max. When an improbably sophisticated Hmong immigrant family moves in next door, after a couple of incidents, he is won over. This film shows the hollywood version of the best and the worst of America, I did not like the improbably hollywood ending. I wonder how it would have ended if it was about a curmudgeonly politically incorrect retired detective named Harry.....hmmmm? Funny in places, heartwarming at times, typical hollywood commie pinko liberal flick (just kidding) it is worth watching but no classic.
