Jean-Claude Van Damme plays himself in this meta-crime comedy that finds him garnering mores headlines than he's had in years after stumbling into an in-progress bank heist. Down and out, with only straight-to-DVD titles under his belt and a recent job lost out to fellow has-been Steven Seagal, the aging action star returns to Belgium a broken man fresh from losing a custody case for his daughter in Hollywood. Upon his arrival, the bad news continues with a disastrous ATM encounter that leads him into the bank and straight into a robbery situation, for which he's about to be blamed. Soon, crowds grow outside on the street, with the cops quick to point the finger at him and his fans cheering for his release. I can't believe it, but Van Damn is actually really good in this movie. It was a pretty good dark comedy. I enjoyed it for the most part, but I also wouldn't call it award winning!

I rarely write reviews, but had to chime in on this: I'm NOT a big Van Damme fan, but I watched this coz I heard about the irony - which most people obviously didn't get - and I got a kick out of it. This is NOT your typical Van Damme movie, which is the point. Yeah, it uses a lot of flashbacks and tou actually have to pay attention to what's going on; which you usually don't have to worry about with a Van Damme movie. And note to the folks who can't cope with reading subtitles and watching a movie at the same time: learn how! Watch all movies with subtitles until you get used to it; you're missing a LOT of good movies by refusing to deal with subtitles.

Very strange premise that actually worked for me, despite the copious use of French and having to miss some elements on the screen because I was busy reading the English subtitles. I think it was more of the semi-biographical parts that hooked me, rather than the contrived bank robbery. I am a big fan of Jean-Claude Van Damme. Overall I rate the movie three stars. I'm glad I rented it.

Fairly imaginative, Mildly Humorous, a bit "long in the Tooth". Van Damme portrays a "pity the celebrity" personna which I find hard to swallow.

I am VERY disappointed in this movie, and I feel sorry for Van Damme he filled a space in it. The director is the WORST I have ever see. There were so many 'flashbacks' I lost count, and it seems the director of the movie was just trying to "fill time." I would recommend this to NO ONE !~!
