Read More This film is a visually stunning and beautifully choreographed period drama. Its original HK title is "The Banquet" and it came out in 2006 (around the same time as curse of the golden flower). Loosely based on Shakespeare's Hamlet this is not for those expecting an action movie. Zhang Ziyi does a good job with the role of empress Wan while Daniel Wu and You Ge give decent performances as the prince and his uncle, the Emperor. Even with beautiful sets and nicely choreographed fight sequences, that feel more like classical dance, this movie feels somewhat lacking. Its a decent watch but don't expect 'Hero' or 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.' Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

The ending is quite confusing too.
I give this movie a 3 stars because of the martial arts visual quality and the actors acting quality.
