The actors chosen worked beautifully together to make a great (and funny) work of art. Randall Miller created a rich feeling in the Napa Valley Country. I wish I had a fine wine to drink while watching such an entertaining film. The story is a about a man (Alan Rickman) who is a connoisseur of fine French wine. He wants to have a contest to see if America has anything to offer the world in the sense of wines. He meets a vintner (Bill Pulman) who is on the brink of bankruptcy and tries to convince him to enter the contest. Based on a true story, Bottle Shock is a must see! Even my parents that are in their 70's liked it. It's got a slow, gentle rhythm to it but quickly proves to be surprisingly witty, and even informative. The acting is superb of course, one expects no less from the principal actors. Yes, I enjoyed it so much I'm going to buy be sure to add it to my DVD collection for future enjoyment - whilst sipping a Napa or Sonoma wine of course! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? The fact that it was a true story about REAL wineries made it all the more compelling. Great cast. Great scenery. Great story. And they didn't have to trash Merlot wines to pull it off.
