So, this is now one of my more favorite movies. Alas but the acting gets in the way of the fantastic sailing footage, and I do love the shiny pretty boats. I love the female character, I'm an Aero engineer too, soon w/ a masters, and she's inspired me to attempt to sew up a sail or 2. I've built 2 boats already, small ones, and to think they could build a 45' boat for 200k$ is ridiculous. But hell, I'd love to try it anyway. If any Americas' Cup people read this, I want a job working for you! I can work for free for about a year, so find me and hire me! Until then I'll be studying hard and writing code for sail design. ibis at ufl.edu :)

Perfect movie for sailing fanatics. You can tell that the maker actually new something about sailing and didn't bluff his way through it like some other themed movies like Hackers or something. Story ...

Perfect movie for sailing fanatics. You can tell that the maker actually new something about sailing and didn't bluff his way through it like some other themed movies like Hackers or something. Story is good but requires the viewer to be the patient sort, not the Die Hard type. Ends well.

Matthew Modine as Will Parker and Jennifer Grey as Kate Bass do a great job in this movie! The movie makes it appear as if the two main characters as well as the large ensemble of sailors are actually sailing in the race - and they may have been since I know nothing about the production of this movie. Jennifer Grey is tan, athletic and beautiful! Matthew Modine appears to have been raised in a yacht club. The movie was exciting and held the viewers attention. Great entertainment.
