Read More I like Sean Combs as a Celebrity figure - but he cannot act and really dragged down the other fine performances in the movie, Felicia Rashad, in particular, who with another lead could really have made the movie a contender. Combs comes off like a cheap swindler skimming off his family - he cannot deliver the depth of performance the movie needs and had in the Sydney Poitier original. Not sure if thats because my expectations were so low. I am a bug fan of Sidney Poitier and I really didn't believe that Sean Combs would do the part justice. Surprise Surprise he wasn't bad at all. The play itself rubs a little raw but to me its supposed to that's how Lorraine wrote and if you take nothing from it than you're not paying attention. I think the acting was well done and the play come off as good as the original. I only hope school kids don't watch it in lue of reading the book, because they will not pass the test. A lot of things have been ommitted and added for entertainment purposes but the general idea is the same for all those visual learners out there. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? And I thought I would give Sean Combs a chance. Everyone's acting was really good, except his. And because everyone else was so good, it made him look even worse. I tried to take the movie seriously, but with him in it you really can't. He looks like he's reading a script. Booooooooooooooooo!!!!!!! The story was slow moving but the acting of everyone but Sean Combs was great. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||
