She played that part extremely well. Even 'Sean Combs' did a good job. This story is from the heart and still holds value this generation and more.

I read the book in college and loved it. I have never seen the 60s version of this movie but Sidney Poitier was amazing in every movie he was in and whoever took on his role had pretty big shoes to fill. I wanted to give Sean Combs a chance but I hated every scene he was in. He pulled down everyone else in the scenes he was in. The great Felicia Rashad carried the movie but not enough for me to like the movie. The two plus hours would have been okay for the play but this felt like it dragged far longer than it should. Overall, I feel that A Raisin in the Sun ... Read More I am interested in the topics presented in A Raisin in the Sun. However, the movie addressed too many issues and was not able to fully explore each issue. Overall, I feel that A Raisin in the Sun gave a very superficial view of an African American family in 1950's Chicago.
My other problem with this movie is that it is very obvious that the movie is adapted from a play because the movie retains many methods that are usually found in theater. Much of the dialog is overdramatic and not natural. The staging has many aspects that I associate more with theater than with a movie. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||
