Too dark of a mood for me. Great actors as expected. Can believe it was a low budget film. Neat how director used minimal actors: 6 total. Story line: I don't understand how the visitors didn't just leave! I would have, rather than put up w/ a couple w/ lots of issues.

Taylor and Burton take all the "fun" out of "dysfunctional". A brilliant work of theatre. Provokes thought, which is rare in anything written in the past 20 years. Be prepared for a rough viewing experience. Mike Nichols first major directorial attempt, he keeps the film low key, lets the actors do the work.

We rented this DVD because we had just seen the play with Kathleen Turner and wanted to compare the two. The play ywas better in that it was not so angry. The movie was very ascerbic. The play was very sarcastic and snide. But never the less funny. There were many laughs in the play. Tayler and Burton seem to hate each other, yet they are tied to each other by there secret.

Converstion. That's one word to describe the whole film. The four leads are equeally wonderful as party guests who verbally assalt eachother all night (with as much profanity that was allowed in 1960's cinema). Again, it's two strait hours of talk, but every bit of it is dark and brilliant.
