This was terrible. Joyless, plotless, gutterball in their portrayal of the whole Catholic thing. I AM SO GLAD I DIDN'T PAY REAL MONEY FOR THIS IN THE THEATRES. A terrible end to the XFiles story, which has been otherwise captivating. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I was expecting it to be a continual from the first or at least close to it. They still have great chemistry between them but this was more of a murder/suspence/thriller movie....really didnt play into xfiles at all, didnt fit the series or the meaning of xfiles.. I / we were just waiting for more to happen that never happened. Maybe this is thier way of turning fox into a PI....sure hope they can redeem xfiles soon....this wasnt a justice to the series or original movie at all. I'm glad i waited for it to come out on dvd and didnt go to the theater for this one. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

How can this be called the X-files?!? Beyond the plot being so off of what the first was about, the acting was FAR below sub par compared to anything Dochovny and Anderson have done in the past; first X-files and other flicks. If you are expecting anything near or similar to the first one, stay clear of this one! Terrible. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Not a bad movie at all, but not that great either. It's nice that they start the movie with no real exposition and in the past 6 years, a lot has changed. Mulder and Scully have moved on professionally and relationship wise. The story isn't super hokey with aliens and ghosts, nor does it present any questions that are never answered like most X-Files episodes and the first movie. There's a last second crammed in cameo at the end of the film that was a little odd, but they didn't feel the need to throw in every charachter from the show and first movie. If you never saw the X-Files, you'd think the movie was average and you've seen better mysteries...but if you're a fan of the show, just seeing them back together coupled with the theme is well worth it. Read More For the first 30 minutes I was thinking to myself, I wonder why this movie got such bad reviews...because it seemed pretty good. I really liked Amanda Peet in it and I think she's an interesting actress to watch and it's nice to see her in a movie where she keeps her clothes on and actually acts.
But after the 30 minutes passed, it just started getting cheesy. I think Gillian's dialogue took this down a star and the overly dramatic relationship between her and Moulder took it even further down. Why was he all bearded if they had been in a relationship and he wasn't in some mountain cabin hiding out alone or something?
I think the movie would have been way better without all that cheesy should I stay or should I go now relationship stuff and Scully second guessing everything Moulder does. Wouldn't she have gotten beyond that by now? Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
