Blue Ice (1993) Reviews

Blue Ice (1993)
Member Rating:
Released in the US on cable television, Blue Ice stars Michael Caine as an older, tireder version of his 1960s "Harry Palmer" character (his name, in fact, is Harry Anders). An M16 agent-turned-nightclub owner, Caine is a man of steadfast loyalties. Thus he takes it personally when several friends from his espionage days are mysteriously killed. Caine investigates on his own, which brings him in very close proximity with enigmatic consul's wife Sean Young. Befitting the fact that Caine's character is a jazz fancier, Blue Ice boasts an evocative musical score by Michael Kamen, of Lethal Weapon and Die Hard fame. Watch for jazz great Bobby Short and an unbilled Bob Hoskins. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

A barely OK movie with Caine being more laconic than usual. As I remember, I saw the last half of it at double speed (or faster) while doing a chore.

This movie was reasonably entertaining with some suspense and intrigue, a romance angle, etc... Michael Caine was excellent as usual and Sean Young was good too. Worth a watch!

Great jazz. And, of course Michael Caine was great. Story was a bit confusing. Sean Young was less than so-so.

An excellent mystery movie with a twist at the end. Sean Young may not be the best actress in the world but she can be HOT!!! The Jazz sessions were great.

I would rate this film so so...although there were some notables in the cast, they didn't shine as expected..I thought the scenes on the docks were somewhat overdone and unreal..hard to immagine the hero running around like he did and still survive..I did enjoy the jazz scenes in the club and some of the antics of the musicians but that's about all.tsk.tsk...21/2 stars!
