It is incredibly slow and disjointed for those 15. Although all the other scenes are understated, the suicide scene is perfectly graphic and completely unexpected. I'm sending it back and wondering why I ordered it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

It was choppy and hard to follow. It bounced back and forth in time and I didn't always know where in time certain scenes were taking place. So much was left unsaid, that I couldn't follow the plot and didn't figure out who a certain character was until a day after I watched the film. There were so many unresolved questions that the ending left you hanging. I don't recommend it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

motives of the principles involved. It jumped back and forth in time which was confusing and left the
viewer wondering, what was that all about! The motives of the various characters was somewhat
questionable and left one at a loss as to the meaning and import..all in all rather disapointing..I was
banking on the quality of the cast to make it worthwhile but alas it wasn' to be. Anyway it was
amusing to see a young Tom Wilkenson> 2 stars! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

It was disjointed and confusing. It was difficult to follow the time frames of the various scenes. The plot was totally confusing. It took work to follow this movie. The ending made no sense and left me wondering what happened. All in all, a poorly edited and scripted film. Worth watching only for the acting --- everything else was senseless. Read More The bright, redeeming factor of this movie that prevented me from turning it off halfway through was Vanessa Redgrave's performance - it's stunning! However, other than that, the movie offers little else. It's disjointed, it's slow, and it lasts about 15 minutes longer than necessary for the plot. Not worth watching unless you love Vanessa Redgrave Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More This movie is challenging: it is like putting a jigsaw puzzle together, with all the pieces scattered on the floor. But I was determined to do it, since the cast of Vanessa Redgrave, Judi Dench, Joely Richardson, Ian Holm, and Tom Wilkinson is stellar. The film goes back in forth in time and centers initially around a dinner party and a horrifying suicide. One major key to understanding it is that Joely Richardson, Vanessa Redgrave's real-life daughter, plays the young Jean Travers (whom Redgrave plays as a mature schoolteacher). I did rewatch the first few scenes to clear up some confusion. But this movie is well worth the effort! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
