Still fantastic, but lacking something, character development perhaps?, that propelled Season One. I almost felt that there were missing episodes between the end of Season One and the beginning of Season Two. However, Disc 2's and 3's episodes were back in form. It's a delight to watch a drama that's made for thinking adults and doesn't spell everything out for the viewer. Also thought the special feature on disc 2 about feminism and the women's movement was insightful.

I rent the CDs for the director/writer commentary included in the extra features. You have to be very familiar with the episode because the speaker talks over the dialogue. The director/writer commentary is much more interesting than the actor commentary. In the first two (of four) DVDs two of the episodes had NO commentary at all. I found that very disappointing. If you aren't looking for commentary, you cannot go wrong with Season 2. It was excellent. In my opinion it is the best written program on television.

While the enigmatic Don Draper is still front and center in Season 2, Peggy Olson emerges as a potential powerhouse at the Sterling Cooper Agency. And the conflicted Betty Draper never ceases to fascinate, with her frustrations seething just below the surface. I hope that the addictive "Mad Men" will be with us for many more seasons!

Through disks 1 and 2, this season seems drab and uneventful. So much so, we are considering just retuirning disk 3 and 4. The characters are tired, along with the storyline.

I'm exactly like Don Draper, except for the great hair, multiple sex partners, a lot of money, wit, and creativity. Also, why is everyone pretending that Peggy Olsen is pretty?

While the early 60s era is a hoot, the level of intensity and surprise and intrigue (?) is way down from season 1. Other than Don Draper's past and Betty Draper being conflicted it's pretty much a slow moving conventional soap opera. Still worth watching but not worth looking forward to. I hope and assume they develop further how Don Draper got from being an abandoned child and used car salesman in southern California to a creative powerhouse in NY in season 3.

We rented it last year with my husband and are pretty picky. We absolutely LOVED it. The reconstitution of the 50-60's is so realistic. Takes you back in times where you were a kid. We are in our 40s. It is not that far away but still, it seems a century ago. Beautiful, smart, compelling show. I cannot wait for the 3rd season.

I agree with Julia. There was something off here--subplots that were too implausible, characters acting out of character and doing things that didn't make sense. The season wasn't as compelling or satisfying as season one. It's almost as if the writers asked themselves, OK, what do we do now?
