I killed it an hour in. Just found it slow and nonsensical. The cast was not believable at all. The soldiers seemed like morons, which I doubt was really the case. The key words in the movie it's self is the Sleeping Man. The whole premise behind this sleping man is a old story about mountain with a profile of a mans face and how he is supposed to come to life one day and save the village. When we supposedly "see" this sleeping man in the movie it's a major dissapointment. The story line is good. But some of the story is just too far out there to keep the movie believeable. I dont think these people with the bad reviews actually watched the movie like I did. I got and loved when we saw the sleeping man awoke. Very clever! Love you and love the movie. Characters were no cookie-cutter types; they ... Read More I was so excited to see Spike do a service to Black servicemembers often overlooked in past war films. The first half of the movie was compelling. Characters were no cookie-cutter types; they seemed real. That is, up to the second half. Then I felt I was watching cardboard character following a cardboard story line, to a cardboard ending. I felt the same way about Saving Private Ryan. It started out good, and then petered out.
