Stargate Atlantis: Season 04 (2007) Reviews

The story line is getting a little long in the tooth. There are always more Wraith and always more Replicators. Every time we finally defeat the <your favorite SGA villain>, oops, we missed one, and there's jet another chance to do it again. There are also too many medieval societies on different planets, there should be more advanced civilizations around - but apparently not so. It seems hard to believe that the Pegasus galaxy hasn't been able to develop their own life forms. The Humans are all from earth in one form or another, the Wraith are some ancient human hybrid experiment gone wrong and the replicators aren't life forms at all. All that there is in form of native life, seems to be bugs or crystals - either doesn't look very realistic. Oh well, the last season has ended, it's not going to get any better.

You can tell the chemistry was thrown off-balance when Wier and Beckett left the show, although they make cameos in season 4. McKay with a gun is an example of the patchwork the writers had to do to make the show work. (He would never have had a gun in seasons 1-3.) There are a couple bright spots in season 4, however, but they don't match the excellence of the previous seasons. I hope season 5 recaptures some of the earlier brilliance.

Disk 4 is a complete let down lots of relationship stuff but no real space and high tech blinky lights. I fast forwarded most of it. Except for maybe 2 things you would need to know to keep on understanding the story it was a total waste of time. I can almost hear the investors saying spend less so we make more... Disk one 2 and three are pretty good. Disk 4 was a waste of electricity to play.
