Read More Set in LA, David Duchovny plays an alcoholic, womanizing writer named Hank Moody who shares custody of his teenage daughter with his ex. The show basically surrounds Moody's life and follows him through his self destructive, sometimes childish behavior. Duchovny and the supporting cast are excellent and the situations and the way Hank reacts are just hilarious and make for an extremely watchable show. We've heard this all before, but Californication gives it a fresh voice. Californication is often unpredictable and keeps the viewer wanting more.
Frank Moody, a novelist turned blogger-bachelor living solo in his Venice Beach pad trying to win back his ex-love; the mother of his teenage daughter. On the road to self-discovery and trying to find love, Moody's narcissistic and permiscuous ways take him on adventures that leave you guessing. The sexual tension between him and his ex comes out onscreen and makes you root for him anyway.

It's a great show full of nudity, bad words and those moments when you wish you could say whatever you felt like in real life.
The plot starts to gel by the end of the first disc and I really enjoyed the clever writing. Can't wait for next season.

Read More Wow, is there some nudity in this show. No wonder this thing was on Showtime -- there's more body parts flashing across the screen than in the latest Rambo movie. Naked people aside, the show is passable entertainment. Certain aspects of the plot really intrigue me, such as Duchovny and the two young girls in his life (his daughter and his ex's soon to be step-daughter). Certain points did not. Californication tries to be Sex and the City for men, and it succeeds somewhat. It even has the bald guy from that show! That said, it's enjoyable. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL?
