It's amazing how similar some of the scenes are between the two, although I found the ending in the French version superior. Although it left you wanting for a little more, which the American version tried to deliver, the American version fell short by being a little hokey and too unbelievable by attempting to satisfy American cravings for happing endings. The American version did a better job of explaining the relationship between the protagonist and his second girlfriend, the French version did a better job of detailing the family of the antagonist, especially the strained relationship with his wife and the odd relationship with his daughter. If you're looking for high suspense and mystery you should probably skip this movie. If you don't mind a sometimes slow, and occasionally intriguing introspective of the mind of a sociopath, then rent the French first, then watch the American versio Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? This movie has quite an interesting look at the disturbing side of a twisted personality and how an incident can impact the lives of others.

I especially like all of the acting in this movie. This movie was very underrated. The story line is a little reminiscent of Ted Bundy's style. That's all Im going to say. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Don't want to spoil the plot so thats all I will say. Kiefer Sutherland is very believable as one who searches in vain for his fiancee played here by the cameo appearance of actress Sandra Bullock.
