The French version offered more suspense and better insight into the mind of the antagonist. It's amazing how similar some of the scenes are between the two, although I found the ending in the French version superior. Although it left you wanting for a little more, which the American version tried to deliver, the American version fell short by being a little hokey and too unbelievable by attempting to satisfy American cravings for happing endings. The American version did a better job of explaining the relationship between the protagonist and his second girlfriend, the French version did a better job of detailing the family of the antagonist, especially the strained relationship with his wife and the odd relationship with his daughter. If you're looking for high suspense and mystery you should probably skip this movie. If you don't mind a sometimes slow, and occasionally intriguing introspective of the mind of a sociopath, then rent the French first, then watch the American versio

This movie has quite an interesting look at the disturbing side of a twisted personality and how an incident can impact the lives of others.

I especially like all of the acting in this movie. This movie was very underrated. The story line is a little reminiscent of Ted Bundy's style. That's all Im going to say.

For all those who have lost someone dear to them in a crowd before, this film is quite disturbing! I liked the film very much and recommend this remake to anyone. Don't want to spoil the plot so thats all I will say. Kiefer Sutherland is very believable as one who searches in vain for his fiancee played here by the cameo appearance of actress Sandra Bullock. Rent this one, you won't be disappointed!!

Usually it is Kiefer Sutherland that lands the part of the pscho. But I didn't think it would be Jeff Bridges. I would recommend this movie.

I first watched this movie 10+ years ago on VHS and thought then it was a good movie. Now that movies have change where that they are better (acting, effects and story lines), I watched it again and it wasn't as good as I saw it back then. I guess some movies are like that. Take Jaws for example.
