Though the story is heartbreaking, Kate Winslet is a joy to watch and gives an Oscar worthy performance if ever there was one - she DEFINES the art of acting as we watch her melt and disappear completely into the role of the tortured Hanna..........
WARNING: This movie is for literate grownups (you know who you are ;) so don't expect giant robots and don't expect every nuance of meaning to be spelled out for you - but if you want a powerful, subtle drama that will truly stimulate your mind and heart, this is it! Read More Once again, Kate Winslet proves that she's an amazing and versatile actress. I think Hanna is her most challenging role yet, and I was caught up instantly with her performance. Whenever Kate's in a film, you can be sure that I'll watch it! Her Academy Award for "The Reader" is well deserved. Read More Why is it considered sexy when an older woman seduces a young boy? If you turned it around and had a 35+ year old man taking his clothes off around a 15 year old girl it would be a creepy criminal offense. It was sad to see how this man's life was ruined by the perversion of an illiterate middle aged woman. He never seemed to move on and get over it, and at the end of the movie he felt it was a good idea to share his screwed up past with his grown daughter. How was that supposed to benefit her?
