I normally don't bother with these types of movies, but I heard a lot of good stuff about it. The only complaint I had about this film was that by the end I felt like I lived the entire event with Owen and Jennifer in real time because this movie is long! Probably could've done a bit more deleting in some scenes to trim down the run time. But thats it, this movie was really great, I wouldn't consider it a comedy though, not that many funny parts, more dramatic really. Yes it has a sad ending (which I don't mind, too many people want happy ending and thats not how real life pans out). My point being the people here that gave this movie a low score just because the ending, don't hurt the rest of the 2 hour movie because you cried in the end. Too be honest, if you heard about this movie you should expect a sad ending in the end, and if you're like me, it shouldn't be hard to guess what the sad ending is, its a movie about a dog growing up, now take a guess.... You'll see it coming.

I love animal movies and must commend all the dogs and their trainers who created the action, but I felt terribly badly that anyone should see the movie and not realize that there is no need for such awful canine behavior. That puppy needed a crate of his own and aa handler who had control. I certainly hope that no one believes that professional dog trainers act as the one in the movie did. Marley was portrayed as a loving dog, but he certainly could have been a wonderful dog (not the world's worst- a real unkindness to him) if he had had a proper upbringing.

Its marketed as a family movie, I saw it during the Christmas break with my 7yr old & the entire theater was crying on the way out & parents were trying to console thier children. I rented it just to show my wife how horribly sad this movie is. I dont get why its marketed as a family movie about a playful/untrainable dog. When you see the deleted scenes you can tell that the movie was trying to get from a PG13 to a PG rating - which it did. Ironically, its a great story FOR ADULTS - which centers around the ADULTS in the movie and their troubles: How hard it is to be married, To try to start a family, To raise a family, To run a career, All while trying to keep an unruly but loveable dog. While it is a very sad movie - I think any parent can relate to what Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston are going through. But Kids? Unless you want your kids balling their eyes out - skip it. Last words & warning "it makes Ol Yeller look like an insprational happy happy joy movie"

When they loaded Marley in the car to take to the vet, we turned the movie off. This is not a childrens movie by no means and its very sad for any adult who loves animals.

Way too many "dog antics"... seems like Hollywood doctored up this story quite a bit. The plot - more absent then Amelia Earnheart...
