Read More Funny from scene one! 4 Christmases does an excellent job of tapping into the embarrassing Cousin Eddie types eventually discovered to be in every family testing the fortitude of new couples! Reese Witherspoon does some of her best work in my opinion (though I must admit I never saw Legally Blond) and Vince Vaughn is totally believable in this role which is similar to his work in The Break Up. Like Brad character doesn't tell his girlfriend that his best friend married Brad's mother. Over all a good movie if you just want a laugh around the holidays. In fact we've seen the story lines in other movies, but not as drab as in this one. There is no Christmas cozy feel in this movie. San Francisco urban and rural settings just don't smack of Christmas. I know. I lived in California for over 40 years and now live in New England where you get the traditional vibe. You can get the holiday feel in California, but not in this movie. Vaughn is wooden and unintersting for most of this. The rest of the acting is okay. Still, I'm afraid this movie too accurately depicts modern life in all its pessimism. I would say this movie makes some accurate, frank observations about the state of current society, but it come across more sad and true, than funny. I would prefer the holiday enchantment of a "Home Alone" or even "Charlie Brown Christmas" over this anytime. Also John Voight's speech about family discord was way too much about him and Angelina. Read More saw it in the theater, there was no other romantic comedy out, wished we waited for the rental, Reece is a wonderful actress but not even she can save this movie, Vince is the same blahboring idiot that he plays in all his films, yest it was funny the first 2 or 3 times, but come on. The two actors have no chemistry, she is fit and slim, he is overweight and hard to look at. Does Vin's contract state he must use his buddies in all his films, or is that Seth's contract. Read More I love reese witherspoon, and up to this point i have never not likes a movie she was in. And in truth, i thought she acted very well in this considering who she had to act with, but to be honest, this was the worst christmas movie ever... vince vaughn is horrible in this, i have not seen anything before of his, but i found he dragged the film down. he was just soo fake and it seemed like he was trying too hard, his jokes, well they were stupid, and i only laughed once throughout the entire movie...i just think if it had of been a different male actor i might have felt different. i would not recomend this movie to anyone. the only reason i am giving it 2 stars is because of reeses acting... otherwise i wouldnt have even gave it a half a star Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL?
