This movie is set around Christmas - but, it is more a story of FRIENDSHIP. Buddy is a 7 year old boy living with distant relatives and forms a special bond with Sook. Sook is a simple minded, affectionate, and loving friend to Buddy. Set is early 1900's when folks walked and talked and spent time together and appreciated everything. Patty Duke is wonderful as Sook and Eric Lloyd is adorable as Buddy. Together with his dog Queenie the three of them create a relationship that is to be envied. Music is beautiful! Very touching, heartwarming movie. While it is not sad, it will make you cry . You will feel Sook's pain when the other family members want to send him to a military school. Have some tissues handy.

Probably the most depressing Christmas movie I've ever seen. If you're in good Christmas cheer and feel like you need to be taken down a few notches, this is the movie for you.
