Larry Peerce directed this tired disaster movie about a mad sniper loose in a football stadium. At the beginning, the sniper picks off a cyclist for practice and then takes roost in the top tower of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Sent in to stop the terror is Captain Peter Holly (Charlton Heston), who wants to get his hands on the sniper without endangering the lives of the people in the stadium. Unfortunately, there is a second group of law enforcement officers, a tactical commando group, who want to go into the stadium and rush the sniper -- regardless of the danger such an action would cause to the crowd watching the game. The sniper plans to start blasting at the two-minute warning signal of the football game. Holly has to find the sniper before the two-minute warning is given -- not merely to prevent the killings threatened by the sniper but to head off the tactical force before any other unnecessary deaths are incurred by the force's bulldog techniques. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi

Devoid of all the bangs-explosions-computer generated visual effects, but this movie would still hold you glued to your plasma screen for its naked simplicity of pure suspense and terror.

A little slow and a it's dated. I got a kick out of the lady complaining about paying $5 for parking at the Super Bowl. Still the movie has an aura of suspense that keeps you tuned in and wanting to see how it ends. Worth a watch, just know it's a little slow until the climax.

A good movie with enough suspense to keep you interested

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Some of the dialog is very 70's-ish, but the overall story line is very scary given the post-9/11 world we live in.

I'm sorry, I know that today's movies are much more fast paced and I know how to adjust my mentality to enjoy a good 70's movie, but this movie is just plain boring. There are a "couple" of good scenes (due mainly to the realism sans 70's ketchup blood) but all but the swat team procedure is completely unejoyable. Most of the movie deals with character development and a plot about the president who doesn't even show up at the game! Heston has a whole scene about protecting lives instead of wasting everyone but shoots the heck out of the villan. Whatever. Take a chance, maybe you'll enjoy it
