This is one of those flicks that follows the exploits of a large cast of characters as they move towards a common goal or meeting place: in this case, the ideal geographic spot to view a full solar eclipse of the sun. The acting is solid and the script is clever in an understated way. The movie avoids melodrama and finds a nice balance between light drama and naturalistic comedy. It should be enjoyable to viewers who like road movies and character studies. The ambiance of the rural Australian scenery is a big plus as well. I didn't know what to expect going into this movie, but "The Alice" was a pleasant surprise.
