Read More Unlike many disappointing, English language remakes of Asian, horror stories, this movie successfully marries a good, serious, believable, scary, Chinese story with English dialogue that's easily accessible to viewers in the western hemisphere. And it's one of the few Chinese, horror stories that has plenty of unexpected scares that can make you jump in your seat. At no point in the movie is the story predictable. Most English remakes place an English speaker in an Asian country, but here we have an original story with a rich background that uses an almost completely Chinese cast in Canada. The acting, directing, cinematography, sound and special effects were excellent. The rarely used subtitles are burned into the film, although not all Mandarin was translated. The 5.1 Dolby Surround audio option made infrequent, but good use of surround sound. As for extras, there's a trailer for the movie and a "Deleted Scenes" featurette (12:39 min) containing six scenes. Absolutely recommended. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Read More I followed a review on here saying that it was fantastic and I gave it a chance through the first hour that had me veering on narcolepsy before I took the DVD out. Jamie King is awesome- no doubt, but this movie? my goodness was there a point? no, was there a plot? no, was there a point in even renting it? NOPE! If you like watching people talking slowly waiting in anticipation for ANYTHING to happen then you'll be dissapointed. Why on earth would Jamie King decide to marry this old weirdo and mother his son? She's was too hot and fun for this role and I felt sorry for her up until the point I fell asleep.
