This was a very confusing movie to watch. So I really can not say I liked it. It could have been good but failed being hard to follow. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreI have read that the original cut (see 'What Just Happened' for explanations :=) runs 117 minutes. I think the film would be much better with those missing minutes, hopefully explaining some of the plot points of the mystery by James Lee Burke it is based on. It's a little too gratuitously violent for me-I know Robicheaux has anger issues and history with some of the characters, but it's not really explained why other than with 'Baby Feet'. The soundtrack is wonderful, the Louisiana landscape beautiful. There's just some swamp gas blowing around that fails to be resolved at the end. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Short, clipped answers, southern demeanor, and even the walk of a westerner, it's all in there. James Lee Burke is a southerner, but has a westerner attitude. If you have read some of his books you can see the similarity. The two match each other, the movie convays this, the plot is somewhat lost in some scences but usually comes back to it, this isn't a movie for someone expecting southern gentile, it's about "gittin it done." Read MoreI thought this was well done. Tommy Lee Jones and John Goodman are both excellent. If you're unfamiliar with the book, however, you should prepare yourself for a fairly violent film. Also, some strong language and nudity. This isn't a pretty story or subject matter but it's still a compelling story with interesting, complex characters. The setting, Southern Louisiana, makes the whole movie more romantic, sad, and scary all at once. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
