A Charlotte lawyer unearths a closely guarded family secret when his father dies and leaves him interest in an obscure entity known as The Covenant List of South Carolina, Ltd. in director Gary Wheeler's adaptation of the novel by author Robert Whitlow. Convinced that the fall of the Confederacy is at hand after the Battle of Gettysburg, a group of South Carolina plantation owners gather at the Rice Planter's Inn in Georgetown, South Carolina and hatch a plan to smuggle their fortunes into Europe. Their cover for the operation: a secret society dubbed The Covenant List of South Carolina, Ltd. But a weathered prophet opposes the group's nefarious plan, and issues a dire warning to his friends and neighbors that one day the descendents of the group will one day face judgment at the mighty hand of God. Decades later, the interests of the families have been passed down through the generations. The profit margin has exploded, and with each passing year the secret grows more sinister. When Charlotte lawyer Renny Jacobson learns that his father has recently passed away, he returns to Charleston to pay his final respects and attend the reading of the family will. Much to Renny's surprise, his father bequeathed a large portion of his estate to charity. Shortly after discovering that his sole inheritance is an interest in the mysterious Covenant List of South Carolina, Ltd., Renny is contacted by The List and approached by a beautiful woman named Jo Johnston. In the following days Renny will become swept up by a whirlwind of deception and greed that will lead him from the picturesque coasts of South Carolina to the closely guarded Swiss bank vaults which house a vast fortune in cursed blood money. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Pretty well acted story, with a religious message, but it failed to keep my interest with it's weak and sort of non-sensical plotline.

Why oh why didn't I read the reviews first? Why?! I think they wrote this as they went. Corny plot, with a corny, strange and warped attempt at a Christian message. It got worse and worse as it went on. Then if you read to the end of the credits, it tells you, for more info, to contact some ministry. Wow, what a bizarre movie.

The best part of the movie was the fact it ws over. The concept was great but as it SLOWLY progressed iit didn't live up to potential. I kept waiting for it to be catch me with suspense and it just didn't deliver. Obvioulsy a strong Spirtual message on faith versus evil but SO LAME. What a waste a viewing time. A must don't rent!

This was real disappointment. The "spiritual" part of this comes close to voodoo and the story could have been told in half the time. The only "consolation" is that if the leader of this group (decked out in Colonel Sanders type outfit) kept to his plan, then the value of the stock dropped like a rock in the current economic climate since he delayed the disbursement!

Evangelical religious movie with no plot other than to convert its viewers to christianity.

I just wasted my time watching this movie. No action, no mystery, no fun, it is like a cheap soap opera

Tried to be a southern movie but butchered it. Doubtful any of the writers have ever been to SC, much less Charleston. Stereotypes and phony accents...

Aweful acting. This was worse than any TV movie of the week. This was worse than any movie ever made-yes...ever. I guess the only point of this movie is to try and spread Christian propaganda. My eyes and ears were bleeding in pain about 30 min into this movie. Do yourself a favor and commit suicide before sitting through this "movie."

Terrible Movie. The plot is overly complicated and unrealistic. The acting is "sub-par" as the characters never really define themselves. This movie claims the be a Mystery/Suspence Thriller...which it was not. I was thrilled when it was over.

Amazing Grace was sung during the cemetery/funeral scene by one of the best voices to sing this song. Most people only hear the first stanza but never the others. Here it is: Amazing Grace by John Newton (1725-1807), Stanza 6 anon. Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now am found, Was blind, but now I see. T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear. And Grace, my fears relieved. How precious did that Grace appear The hour I first believed. Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come; 'Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far and Grace will lead me home.
