If you watched the film and understood that it was from the perspective of someone who lost everything except his sight, then you would agree the way the film captured everything, was extraordinarily well done.

Read More This was an amazing movie portraying a real life circumstance that can hit any of us, anytime. It was just incredible to have the camera mimic what life is like in an immobile body, and how one must move on. The reaction and interaction of others is really interesting to see (again, from the stricken perspective). The invaluable skills and compassion of the treatment staff are just magnificent, and thank God Mr. Baubi was able to get the patient assistance he needed to write his book and tell his harrowing tale. Although some may have found it uplifting, I found it depressing. A classic illustration of monumental struggle for few rewards -- and then you die. The camera movement is just fantastic, particularly the first 30 minutes.
Only problem , the subtitle does not translate always the nice play of words ...But I am agree with the choice of Schnabel (see extra on the DVD) to keep the French language and turn the movie on the clinic where jean Do was hospitalized.

Makes you want to make sure that you have your health directive filled out because this movie shows what being in a state of complete stroke is like. No life supports for me.
