My only complaints are that the opening scenes are a bit confusing, some scenes are dimly lit, and the dialogue is very wordy, Yet, everything gels quite well eventually. Recommended!! Ok it's not nonstop action but it's still exciting from beginning to end mostly due to Chiwetel Ejiofor's performance and style. Don't know what his real background is in bjj but he was quite convincing as a master in this movie. Movie makes a point about how martial arts originally were intended as honorable self defense/combat systems but now, especially with mma, that is increasingly being forgotten and martial arts seems to be more of a money making spectacle. I agree. Martial arts fans from any discipline should not pass this movie up. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Read More I was extremely excited to rent this movie with all the Brazilian Jiu jitsu and MMA fighters in the movie and that it was directed by a purple belt in BJJ, but I was very disappointed. Although the movie was only 90 minutes it seemed to drag on for hours. The story line was very disjointed and had multiple story lines that didn't need to be in the movie. The ending didn't make much sense. The only strong point of the movie was the fight choreography but I recommend to pass on this one and hope in the future a good BJJ or MMA movie. Like Blood Sport, the acting was bad. Unlike Blood Sport, it was boring, confusing and had very little action. They threw in all these characters and I have no idea what their roles were or what the heck was going on. Was everyone in this big conspiracy to get Mike to fight? What was Tim Allens agenda? I guess I'll never know. Van Damme is the only person who could've saved this movie. He could've kicked @$$ while reciting lines to a simple story line I could follow.
