I've always enjoyed Mamet's movies, going back to House of Games. I don't fawn over him, though, so there is some objectivity here. I think Rebelt is a solid effort from Mamet, though I would imagine those watching this film expecting a martial arts/action flick will come away disappointed. This film, like most Mamet films, is about deception, characters, and dialogue. In this movie, the device is martial arts, but the sotry revolves around one honorable individual attempting to escape an impossible situation with his honor intact. The acting is top notch, and the dojo scenes are fascinating.

Neither my husband nor myself liked this movie. It was kind of boring and I would not recommend it. I got the movie because there were a lot of good reviews about it. I totally disagree.

Mamet's work covers many genres. Each one he imbues with hardcore drama. This one is no exception, putting drama back into the action genre. The movie doesn't work as diversion, though. You have to be on board with Mamet as he again explores the nature of power in everyday relationships. Nice job by the lead actor, and the cast of unknowns and Mamet regulars excels in general.

REDBELT was the perfect blend of action and character. Smart dialogue without screaming "I'm so clever". A wonderful choice of casting. Chiwetel Ejofor is destined for even bigger things. A very engaging actor and it comes through in his role. This was a great surprise movie for me. --Beau Smith The Flying Fist Ranch

Loved this movie. Shows how corrupt Mixed Martial Arts really is. Remember Kimbo Slice?

The story of a man trying to be noble in an imperfect world. Nicely shot. Good pace. Very well coreographed jujitsu fight scenes.

Hey you f***. How am I uneducated?? This movie blew! Your telling me in the end when they are fighting with each other and the crowd just has a dumb gaze on their faces and no one breaks them up the whole time they are fighting is good? lol your the dumb***! This movie is on my top 5 of worst movies of all time. And now I had to rewrite my review because some idiot thinks this movie is great and calls me uneducated. You suck and so does this movie.
