Really good action film. My son really enjoyed this movie and has since added more martial arts films to our queue.

Brilliant mix of Jackie Chan, Jet Li, martial arts, adventure, and humor. The movie has outstanding balance. It's not a long cheesy fight-fest. Michael Angarano ("Black Irish", "Will & Grace") is the surprise lead! (Shia LaBeouf, eat your heart out.) Angarano takes on this genre with ease as the unlikely American hero. This actor continues to surprise. The visuals are really quite beautiful and artful. The story is based on a popular Chinese fable with a wonderful variety of settings and plot. Li as the Monkey King and the Monk is lively and funny although hard to understand at times. Chan was perfect as usual. The martial arts 'battle royal' at the end has people and weapons flying for several minutes but with colorful costumes, monolithic sets, it was entertaining and not too computer-imaged-to-death. Starting and ending in South Boston with the hero being mystically transported into the legendary world and back again created a clever parallel to the fable.

Awsome story from start to finish. Jackie Chan was his masterful self as the drunken master and Jet Li added a contrasting style that electrified the screen. The story is based, loosely, on a Chinese myth of the monkey king. I noticed in the other reviews that some panned this movie but mostly becouse they couldn't relate to the mythology and took it too literal. Just sit back and enjoy the action as it is presented and have an open mind. Best movie this year!!

This is a fun, knowing homage to the types of Hong Kong action films that made Jackie Chan and Jet Li household names throughout Asia and America. Jet Li as the Monkey King is particularly amusing, and Chan is great as the Drunken Master. This one's good to watch with kids as well.

It has a better story line than most martial arts type films. Jackie is funny again...entertaining for the whole family.

I love Jet Li movies, love them. But this stinks. An american loser boy is transported to China in the past, he learns kung fu in a few days, and fights an army. Best of all, this American kills an immortal, in case you didn't know, immortal means never dies. The story is dumb, the Monkey King looks dumb and is a dumb idea. Pass on this.
