Read More This is the best movie we have seen all year. This movie has everything, human interest, good police procedure, mystery, suspense, romance, action, excitement, and unlike many of the "new film noir" efforts, you can actually watch it from beginning to end. It doesn't skip around all over the place and it isn't so dark that you can't see the action. Selleck is great as the small town cop and the supporting cast is also equal to the task. What great direction and what a wonderful script. I want to watch every movie in this series. I can't wait to get my hands on "Dark Passage". This movie is all meat and potatoes. 5 stars. Read More This is a great crime drama series - ALMOST as good as the books by Robert B. Parker. Tom Selleck is well-cast as Jesse Stone, a transplant from the LAPD who is now Chief of Police is a small town called Paradise, Mass.. This installment features a body washed up in the lake and shows the cast of Jesse, Suit, and Molly trying to track down the killer. Firstly though, they must figure out who the Jane Doe is, and then wade through the possible suspects. Great casting, great acting - highly recommended! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Here he plays a man with many demons, a ... Read More As the character of Jesse Stone Tom Selleck has succesfully stepped out of the shadow cast by Thomas Magnum, the character he played in the early 80's. Here he plays a man with many demons, a drinking problem, a painful divorce, troubled relationships in the town of Paradise Massachusettes where he is now the chief of police. Selleck proves that he can truly act, that he is capable of playing a character that has real depth. The plot draws you in; you soon feel like you're one of the neighbors in this small town watching the mystery unfold. Selleck does a much better job as an alcoholic burn-out detective than he ever did as a more high-spirited ... Read More I really like the Jesse Stone series, and they make me want to go out and find the books. Selleck does a much better job as an alcoholic burn-out detective than he ever did as a more high-spirited Magnum PI. He brings a more mature face and spirit to the rebellious character type normally given to younger actors.--- It's a strong role, a good character, a good drama and strong story.
