Read More This is a pointless whiny film whose point is apparently that we all had it right in college and have screwed everything up as we've matured. Please. Sure, there's some talent here with Messing and Burns in particular, but not enough to make this Titanic float. And incidentally, the constant f-bombs get tiring. It makes one wonder if the excessive profanity is covering up for a lack of ability to write truly pithy dialogue. Bummer. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Pretty trite story-line. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I am hard-pressed to find a better current-times relationship movie! It's just two stories but I think they are both common on how long time ago loves just want to reach out & see if anything is still there & find out where it all went? I like that Edward made his character so colorful but yet, not the central character. I really believe that people strive to be good enough/better then they were when they lost that one special love!
Great insight Edward Burns!! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

What has happened to writing, plot and narrative? I mean, clearly this man can't write structurally much beyond his own name, let alone, an intelligent film script. More specifically---this latest work: The storyline is beyond a less-than-lame soap-opera and the dialogue is bland and vapid, and quite often, laughable. The characters are complete caricatures--continually somehow become irrationally aroused, then throw out expetive banter for no reason! Messing's (char) persona is so bitter/hostile that one realizes she will be happily married and all cleanly resolved in the end. (really, doesn't life work that way?!) Also trademark of Burns films, it's littered by 5/6 pointless, tired songs that (I suppose) are meant to try to keep us engaged in case we've nodded off. To top matters, this is suppose to explore the world of writers--what an oxymoron. The irony not lost on me. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Ed Burns is one of those writer/directors in which I look forward to their recent work. Ed Burns amazes me every time with his take on romance and city life in NYC. If you have never seen one of his many films, I suggest you rent this and one of his earlier works The Brothers McMullen. Excellent films that more people should see.
