"Sherlock Holmes" is an intriguing movie. It is certainly based on the book by Conan Doyle, but is part period piece and part special effects thriller. Also, the character of Holmes is deffinately not the intellectual methodical 19th century scientist that is in the original. In this movie he is just as brilliant and resourceful, but he is very excentric, untidy and antisocial, (or even more so than the original). I had a problem understanding the dialogue sometimes, but, maybe that was intended to make it more mysterious.

Really enjoyed the subtleties throughout the movie and how they tied it up in the end. Definitely have to pay attention to understand what's going on. Hoping there will be a second, since they definitely left room for one!

Although I really like Robert Downey Jr. he just didn't nail it as Sherlock Holmes. Entertaining, action packed, and humorous. But not the Sherlock I grew up with.

Great Movie. Lots of action and a new type of character for Holmes. Dialog was hard to follow at times but I enjoyed the movie overall.

Entertaining movie, but we were unable to skip through the various promos and trailers (frustrating!). Make sure you start it 10 minutes before you want to see the actual movie!

We turned it off after 30 minutes. We were bored and unconvinced. I really wanted to like it, but just couldn't bring myself to.
