The DVD cover does not give a hint of the actual stunning 3 dimensional like CGI animation of this film. The shimmer and ripple of water in this film for example is breathtaking. The frogs look like they could jump into your living room. Alfred Molina makes an incredibly passionate strong Pharaoh Ramsey II. Christian Slater as Moses? Who knew what a powerful actor he could be! He actually changes the intonation of Moses as he ages from adolescent to moment of death. The visual graphics, peril, death, and the never satisfied whining behavior of the Israelites (which drives Moses almost insane) should grab the attention of youth and adolescents. The incredible acting, the realistic humanization of the strengths and weaknesses of the characters, and the dramatic themes expanded off what is an already well known story will appeal to adult audiences. This is the most accurate movie on the story of Moses (for kid's) that I have seen yet! My 2 children (boy and girl) loved it and I was very impressed with it's Hebrew Biblical accuracy!

We've been watching a lot of the Bible story movies lately, old as well as new, so there is a lot to which this can be compared. I'm not crazy about the CGI, personally... Not that it was bad, just that it often felt like being in a video game. The acting was surprising - I agree with another reviewer that Christian Slater brought a depth of character to Moses of which I would not have thought him capable. I was also very pleased with the storytelling, which was much truer to the Biblical account (even the less "glamorous" or "exciting" bits) than anything else made in the last few decades.

Look at the cover of this DVD. You will think "Prince of Egypt". You will think wonderful animation, wonderful music, and great acting. This DVD had none of that. It was a good telling of the tale of Moses, but everything else was lacking. The animation is old-school Playstation 2, horrible by today's standards. Christian Slater is a dry actor naturaly and that does not come over well in animation. If you just want to see the story told, this is a great movie, but avoid it if you are thinking it is going to be anything special...
