I appreciated the depiction of deep religious faith. I enjoyed the ignorance and intolerance shown by the secular principal. Finally the shoe is on the other foot. I also got a real kick out of how one friend nudged the dating rules for the other's benefit. I also liked that the Muslim parents were more accepting than the Jewish ones this time. Read More I loved the way this story shows how people can get along with each others regardless of their faith and ethnicity if we let them to be. Story represent the school principal as someone who likes to play the roll of "BIG BROTHER" (USA) by interfering in the lives of two people (Muslims & Jews) without having any idea abut their believes and cultures. Her intention maybe is good but more troubling than helpful. I highly recommend this movie to all. Very educational and eye opening. PEACE TO ALL. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? What about arranged marriages in 2008? This movie is full of thought provoking circumstances but it is not "heavy" . Lot of comedy and joy. I would also consider it to be a very intelligent romantic comedy but with social implications. Very interesting characters, clever plot and leaves a smile on your face.

The main characters were portrayed with sensitivity and the connection between the young women was engaging. So much of their stories were parallel. They were intelligent, traditional, yet openminded to a certain degree. Their love and respect of their families were exactly the same, despite the religious differences. I found myself caught up in their frustrations, excitement, and rooted for them both to find husbands they wanted, within the custom of the arranged marriage. Very enjoyable and even educational film. An inspiration to us all if we allow it to be. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Read More This movie moved me into feeling good about my choice to follow tradition & religion and it not be so-called "backwards and/or outdated". Many feel that if someone is traditional and/or religious they are not with "the times" and/or "the 21st century" yet here we are living, working, and contributing to society as a whole. We need diversity in order to make this world the most wonderful & colorful world it is..."Black & White TV...now THAT'S outdated...so let's move forward together. ;D
P.S. I am recommending this film to my son's high school world history teacher...the sooner the better. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
