Read More I thought the film was excellent in every way you could grade it and simply put a film not to miss! The film takes place in German concentration camps and keeps the audience on the edge most of the time, for in reality the prison is a death camp. So buckle your seat belt and watch a well acted and filmed flick and don't listen to the nitpicking, it is well worth the rental! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

It is a true story with little artistic change. I especially liked the interviews with the author and actual survivor of the real events. I say every young person from 17 up should see this movie and realize what courage thru fear really is. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Great movie, great story, both heartbreaking and inspirational. I think it's another piece of the story of the Jewish people's struggle to survive the concentration camps and how a whole distinct and apparently contrary yet valid set of gallant moral values can surface when in such a life and death struggle. Also a lesson on how a man may find himself in a position to make an heroic difference even in the most unlikely of situations, such as in Shindler's list. Luckily, I can understand some German, but an English dub would definitely help embelish the story. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The story is intriguing enough to hold interest. But, the subdued, non-punctuating music and understated acting keep the dramatic tone rather low. Aside from some brief sex and occasional violence, the movie feels watered down. The focus is mainly on the dynamics of the prisoners' ethical and emotional struggle within the group, as well as their struggle against their German captors in determining if/how/when to produce counterfeight money to help the Germans while avoiding being killed for stall tactics. Based on a true story. The movie is more character study and plot than overt theatrics. This is best FOREIGN film. There are subtitles in several languages. They do not overwhelm. German and French are spoken in the film. Not for children or early readers. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The language is Russian I think. I really couldn't get into it. I ended up putting in another movie about forty five minutes into it. It just wasn't what I thought it would be.
