Read More Of all Tyler Perry's movies, Why Did I Get Married is by far his best. Entertaining, as well as funny, this is a movie with some clout and meat on its bones. The age old issue of marriage is pictured of several couples, the cheating spouse, the workaholic spouse, the one afraid of closeness or of having a child, as well as the one who loses a child. The irate black woman who wants to fight to address her adversaries makes the movie; she is simply halarious and does a great job in this role. The movie shows us that even though marriage is the hardest job one could ever have, it is worth all its troubles and trials if one can just do the work and hang on for dear life. I really enjoyed this movie, and Tyler Perry just keeps getting better and better. Vickit10 Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I didn't think that the acting was all that great, but it was somewhat entertaining. For a man that considers himself Godly, I found it interesting that this movie had so many sexual issues. Not only were two of the four characters unfaithful in their marriages, but it was treated like an "OK" thing that sometimes happens. Is this really such a common problem that all the other reviewers could honestly relate? I probably wouldn't care about those things if it wasn't advertised like a "Christian" family-friendly movie. Wouldn't watch again. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I watched with 2 other friends and we all felt the same on not liking most of the characters their abrasive, annoying, and cruel behavior. No peaks just blah straight through. Janet Jackson looked like she was trying to act and she looked like she was trying not to look at the camera.... so obvious!!! She is not a good actress. It was painful. Nothing excited me at all. The only thing good was laughing at it with my friends on how bad it sucked, we couldn't believe it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Although at the core of this movie are some very wise messages about love and marriage (The "80/20 rule" is something that every married man and woman should be told at some time), the overall film was fairly shallow and racist. The main characters were thin caricatures and every white person shown was an over-the-top stereotype.
As I said, the basic message of the movie is good, but it does not represent the work of a mature and serious film-maker. It's too long (by about 20 minutes), it's very sappy in places and the racist mentality demonstrated detracts from it. For far too many years, black people were horribly represented in film, but that doesn't mean that black directors have the right to do the same to others. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL?
