Director Micheal Arias shows an amazing story with unique characters with in depth imaginations and style. An instant Anime classic. "This movie is really not entertaining. I was boring."-Rosa R. yes you were Rosa, yes you were. You should probably stick with the Disney classics from now on. Beautiful visuals, the environment is simply stunning. The breadth and scope of the city, with all its rich textual qualities, made for some pleasurable background ambiance for the story to play out on.
Unfortunately the movie falls apart rather quickly after the first half of the movie. Or rather, grinds down into the muck and mire of the screenwriter's lack of structure.
Character complexity is an anime standby, but beyond that we need someone to root for, someone to identify with, and unfortunately we don't. The result is boredom, because we don't give a damn about whats happening to anyone. They could die and we don't care because the emotional tie in is gone. Vanished.
It just goes to show you- you don't have to be Japanese to write a crappy Anime screenplay.
I also have a bone to pick with the casting agent and director for some of the voice overs used for the english dubbed version. They were amateurish. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Read More I felt the film very thought provoking, which may put off those who are looking for an R rated action-only anime. However, I actually thought the film did a good job of keeping the viewer trying to piece together the relationships and hidden motivations without overtly stating them-much like a good poem. I also thought the characters were well constructed and I found many classic underlying themes, which lends the film to high repeat rates and longevity.
In summary, I feel this is an excellent movie for anyone who enjoys good animation, a thought-provoking story-line, and some interesting characters. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||
