The back of the box says it is in English, but it is not. I checked the setup and it is in Mandarin Chinese not English. It is hard to read subtitles and watch the action so I had to turn it off. I got it since it was directed by John Woo. It would have been great if the lanuage indicators had been accurate.

It is such a lame movie. The director seems to be stuck in 80's Hong Kong Gangster movie complex for the entire movie feels so out dated. There are more loop holes in the plot than a fishnet stocking and I just cannot get myself to care for any of the characters. Actors portraying the bad guys are over acting in a psycho sort of way and the actors portraying good guys cannot act; they are mainly known for their pretty faces in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

This movie has one of my all time favorite HK gunfights. It's sort of like City of Violence meets Road to Perdition with a healthy heaping of the Untouchables thrown in. Shu Qi puts in the best work of her career. The music and costuming are sumptuous (although they probably just used stuff leftover from Lust, Caution). The dialogue is kinda hack, but all in all this is a very promising direction for Alexi Tan.

First, please do not rate a movie low just because it's in a different language and you can't keep up with the film somehow. That's retarded. Please rate the movie on the quality of it's contents so as not to mislead others. Plenty of people don't mind subtitled movies. Now on to the actual review... What this movie lacks in originality, it makes up for in it's execution. Acting was superb and the little action that it did have was done in true "Untouchables" fashion. I just grabbed this off the shelf without having any knowledge of it except for what I read on the back so I was pleasantly surprised with this one.

With so many lame movies out there this one was a special surprise. There is a little bit of truth in most of the reviewers ie psycho acting, some of the scenes looking staged, but over all it was very entertaining with good sets, lighting,& even the acting was good considering the Chicago style gangsta. The plot was also unique with the brothers dilemma. Some of the gun snd.fx was a little light and not sounding real, but not enough to degrade on a whole.Oh yeah got to agree with Wes O.

I never saw the John Woo version but cosidering that this is a remake of his movie, I totaaly expected Blood Brothers to be more action-packed, or at the very least, move briskly. But instead the story unfolds like some epic drama, which it really isn't. It's shot beautifully though and historical ambience seems spot on. Just couldn't get through the whole thing it was so boring and predictable.

The lighting was great , clothing good job on....but so so so unoriginal, it was like they were trying hard to be like american gangsters, you knew what was going to happen next all the time, nothing creative......JOHN WOO was not the director and yes it had english subtitles, and they dont bother me in the least. I watch alot of movies and this one was done well far as acting and look of film, but boring as a cubicle:(

This movie was probably a pretty good movie with great plot but I DON'T SPEAK CHINESE,JAPANESE OR ANY ESE. Once again people want sell movies in our country but expect us to read the captions throughout the whole movie because they can't put english language to them...Sucks for a blind man....I enjoy foreign movies and their themes and plots are usually top notch but I will not put myself on the outside of the box to read through the whole movie and miss the visualization of the movie itself. TOO BAD!!!
