We were surprised to discover it was about a black families Christmas. After the first ten minutes, it was obvious that all families are more alike than not. After we got into the movie, we really enjoyed it.

Yes, the storyline is a formulaic black family theme, too "Soul Food" and the ending was very predictable. However, the all-star casts was a treat with Loretta Devine and Regina King (aka wifey) playing their roles to perfection. Brown was okay even though he can be annoying at times. It was good to see Laz Alonso, David Banner and Delroy Lindo return to big screen. Overall, this movie was a feel good holiday film you can watch and say "Who does that person remind of?" Let me put it this way,if This Christmas included me as a family member, I'd be drinking spirited egg nog through the entire movie. Next Christmas (providing if there is a sequel) may the director just direct and hire writers to focus more of making a movie,and not a 60 minute filler for a weekly television show.
