Watching this on a Blu-ray 1080 system (Sony Z4100/Sony Playstation 3) brings one word to mind....spectacular. The footage is of places most people will never get to see except via this exceptional photography. You'll visit both poles, the deserts, the oceans, mountains, caves, and all the theatrics are provided via nature and her animal creations. Some footage might be a little too intense for really young children because of the "eat or be eaten" shots which are very graphic. Disk one shows a 5-meter great white shark completely out of the water like a Sea World dolphin. The 4 disk set is very educational too, a nice plus.

I loved the whole series. It was very thorough on examining planet earth's species as they exist today. It was exciting and informative. I love animals, so naturally I would love this series. The only thing is: the last disc of the collections had nothing new in footage and got too preachy as far as what mankind has to do to save the earth and it's species. All fine and well, but it wasn't entertaining. There was nothing new that they were saying that has not been said many times over. We know that the peoples of the earth must change or the earth will not sustain the people of the earth, as well as the wild species that wish to roam this earth. I wonder what will happen.
