Be certain that you obtain the right version of these disks. The HD-DVD version should certainly be obtained over the regular DVD (that is if you have the appropriate player). And to clarify other reviews, this was actually made by the BBC, but plays on the Discovery HD channel (among others) if you get that station. Your DVR could be programmed to find it whereever it is on the TV.

This series not only shows you the wilderness and It's inhabitant like never seen before but introduces the world to animals that have never been caught on film. The beauty of God's creation is truly displayed by this wonderful collection of footage from around the world. With superior night filming and excelent use of time-laps, this is by far the greatest nature presentation ever assembled hands down.

The visuals on the HD DVD version are amazing. That said, I don't think it's that much better than your typical fare on Discovery HD. You should rent it to see what your HD DVD or Blu Ray player can do. However, don't expect to be watching it again and again. I think it is kind of boring.
