The camera work is phenomenal and it makes you realize that regardless of how large the population has become in recent decades, there is still so much of this planet that is relatively unexplored. Viewed individually, each episode is a masterpiece. As a whole, they can get a little repetitive, as some of the episodes share footage. The narration is at a basic-education level, with statements such as "the earth's seasons are caused by its tilted axis," and "the Himalayas are the world's highest mountains." But that's OK, since getting into too much detail on say, sexual selection in birds of paradise would risk alienating a large portion of viewers, and the point of this series, to show just how wonderful and varied our world is, would be lost.
